InkeyTool processes the input you explicitly send through an action. In the App Store version, selected text arrives through macOS Services; Accessibility and screen-recording permissions are not required. You can also configure actions to use the clipboard or files in folders you authorize. File actions may read text, extract PDF text, perform OCR, or send an image to a supported provider.
AI providers
Cloud-provider requests go directly to the configured provider using your API key. That provider’s terms and privacy policy apply. Apple Intelligence processes requests on the device. Ollama requests go to the endpoint you configure, which may be local or remote.
Data stored on your Mac
API keys are stored in macOS Keychain. Rules and settings are stored locally. The app writes local diagnostic logs that may contain input and output previews, paths, and error details. Enabling debug logging can include full prompts and results. Logs are not automatically uploaded to the developer. Review logs before sharing them with support.
What InkeyTool does not do
InkeyTool does not run its own AI processing server or automatically send usage analytics to the developer. This does not mean that your chosen AI provider processes no data.
